Columbus and the Rosary: Ave Maria

Is it possible that Columbus may have prayed the Rosary as he sailed across the Atlantic Ocean in 1492? In this assignment you are asked to choose one of the Joyful, Sorrowful ,Glorious, or  Luminous Mysteries. Briefly explain the  mystery and supply evidence to show how that mystery could possibly  relate to Columbus and his voyages. This work  requires one well written paragraph.

Example:
On October 7, 1492 Columbus'  ship log recorded spotting  shore birds flying west.  One wonders if Columbus took this event to prayer.  The birds may have reminded him of the dove that appeared when Jesus was baptized.  Mark 1: 9-11 is the basis for the Luminous Mystery known as the Baptism of Jesus. Those  1492 birds may have been  Eskimo curlews or American golden plovers, but the bird involved in the Baptism of Jesus is the Holy Spirit announcing something new and eternal.
