The Vox Dei Informs a leader that all are Imago Dei.

Describe your visit to Fordham University.
How did the presentation compare or contrast with our discussions about manhood and leadership.
Look up Luke 22:24-27. How does this gospel teaching fit into the presentation?

  1. My visit to Fordham University was quite astonishing. Mr. Almeida, gave us a brief tour on campus. We visited many places, such as the basketball gym, where we got to meet the basketball coach and watch the team practice for a while. The business hall, where students who major in business where conducting an assignment affiliating with stocks, incomes, and etc. We also visited the bathroom, which were quite nice. Finally, the lecture hall, where we were introduced to the General, former graduates of Fordham, and some lady, in whom I forget her name. The presentation compared to our discussions in class because, both the presentation and our discussion(s) talk about how a leader does not have to be the greatest among all nor does the a leader have to be a man. After chewing the Scriptures with the teeth of my mind, Luke 22: 24-27 talks about God telling his people that the greater one (the leader) should be the youngest one and that God himself is among them as the one they serve. This gospel fits into the presentation because, both, talk about how the leader does not try to obtain anyone else's characteristics but their own, and how the leader is their self any not anyone else.

  2. For the most part, the officials at Fordham were polite and welcoming. They gave us a brief tour through a few of the buildings at the university until they finally took us to see the lecture. The lecture, given by a Vietnam veteran and former soldier, talked about how leadership in the army or an organization is crucial to boosting morale. He also talked about how when making difficult decisions, it is best to do what is right and not sit back and watch as people commit cruel acts because no one decided to argue, which is similar to the discussion we had in class. However, the veteran did not address the idea of manhood, or the idea that an increase in responsibility will lead to a development of maturity, mostly because the school was co-ed. Verses 24-27 in Luke 22 show a comparison to the presentation, as both the verses and the lecturer convey the idea that someone who reaps unearned rewards is not as great as someone who works diligently to make some kind of impact on the world.

  3. Our visit to Fordham was an amazing experience that taught us very much about leadership. The lecture we heard helped us greatly understand the concept of being a leader and the hardships a leader goes through. We heard about how a leader's choices affect everyone around them. They are related in the sense that a leader is responsible for all his actions and those of his people. We learn that us as leaders are called to take responsibilities for our actions. We also learn that our actions not only affect us but everyone around us as well. Luke 22:24-27 tells us that a leader should not think of himself as a great and powerful person but one who is humble and truly cares about his people.

  4. My visit to Fordham University was filled with information . We visited the gym and it was very beautiful . Along with this the class was able to see and hear a lecture from a former advisor to former president George H.W Bush . The presentation can compare to the discussions of manhood and leadership that we have in class because the advisor said that leadership had helped to shape him in the future .Luke 22:24-27 teachings fits into the presentation because it says "Instead, the greatest among you should be like the youngest" . This means that the youngest should be taught leadership and this would make "the youngest" the greatest .

  5. The visit to Fordham University started with a tour of the basketball court, our class then sat down at the lecture hall with stained glass windows and met with a four star commanding general who gave a speech on leadership. The presentation had a large comparison to our discussions in class because the commanding general was a devout catholic. He talked about his experiences. This included how one should respect their peers and how they should lead others. Luke 22:24-27 compares to the presentation because similar to how Jesus talks about coming to server, when one is a leader they must treat their subordinates with the respect they deserve.

The Gospel of Luke is similar to the presentation at Fordham University because the presentation also enforced an idea of selflessness. The speaker emphasized that a leader has a strong moral compass, and defends those less fortunate and those without a voice. The Gospel of Luke essays this idea as Jesus describes that a good leader is great because he is selfless and helps all people. Furthermore, the gospel of Luke shows Jesus sitting with many other individuals, not believing he is superior in the slightest, but instead being modest and respectful. (Luke 22: 27) Similarly, the speaker at Fordham University wanted us to know that a true leader is never biased. A true leader respects all people and never believes he or she is superior to other people. However, the Gospel of Luke also contrast with the presentation. The presenter at Fordham University also stated that as a leader, you must aspire to be great and sometimes mark hard decisions to do so. On the other hand, the Gospel of Luke suggest that a leader should not focus on greatness and must instead prioritize magnanimity. (Luke 22: 27) Both the Gospel of Luke and the presentation at Fordham University introduced interesting dogma, and greatly contributed to my understand of what a leader is and what a leader does.

  7. It related to our conversation in many ways, one way was that he said don't be afraid to take responsibilities, or make decisions. He talked about how you work for what you want. Luke 22:24-27 fits into what he was talking about because it said "So he said to them , then repay to caesar what belongs to caesar and to God what belongs to God".

  8. My visit to Fordham University was exciting and worrying. It was exciting because it was a visit to a new place where one could lose oneself. At the same time, the visit was worrying because it portrayed college education which seemed very complicated and strangling. The presentation was very interesting and was well taught. The discussions about manhood were similar in a way and the four star general spoke about leadership in such a way that one felt inspired.Luke 22:24-27 fits into the presentation because it teaches that being great does not mean sitting in a high position, but instead doing something for others.

  9. My visit to Fordham University was very interesting and very much of a learning experience because the tour of the campus gave me an idea of what college is like and was very informational. The presentation on leadership informed me on what it was like to be in charge in Vietnam and the mindset of someone who had to make hard decisions in war situations. Luke 22: 24-27 compares to the presentation on leadership because in the Scripture, Jesus says "But I am among you as one who serves" and this idea is visited in the presentation. An idea is conveyed that even though you are a leader, one who serves as well is better than one who just leads. Also, the notion of manhood and maturity is visited because in the presentation General Pace discussed his hardest decisions in his service and the mature decision was made in an environment where manhood was tested.

  10. The Fordham visit was nice and interesting. The presentation compared to what we discussed about in class because it taught us work hard and improve on our skills. The gospel teaching (Luke 22:24-27) fits into the presentation because the servant says the men are fighting to the point where he has more power than them, when they should be equal in power to the point where they are still more powerful than the servant.

  11. When I went to Fordham University, I was very surprised on how it looked. I thought it was going to be very bad and ugly. However, I was wrong, it was luxurious, the basketball court was glorious, and the campus was amazing. The presentation about manhood and leadership compared very much with the one from Fordham. They were in my opinion both very interesting and talked about the same exact thing. There was not really any difference, maybe just the speaker. Luke 22: 24-27 might fit into the presentation because it talks about manhood and leadership.

  12. My visit to Fordham University was a great visit. We saw the basketball court, lecture hall, and the live stock market. I think the presentation was similar to our discousion on manhood. Luke 22:24-27 fits into the presintation beccause Jesus teaches us who should lead.

  13. Fordham Univesity was absolutely gorgeous and is a prestigious school. Just the tour around the campus would have left me satisfied. General Pace is a man who has gone through much suffering in his lifetime. He described his suffering as an inspiration to move forward and strive after every short-coming. In Luke 22:24-27 Jesus explains to his apostles that in the Kingdom of Heaven, the man who serves is rewarded greater than the man who receives. General Pace also establishes that idea in his words. He said a leader is one who serves others and tries to expose the best in them.

  14. General pace talked much about split second decisions and to sometimes think of your actions. He gave examples of when he was a lieutenant in the Vietnam war he almost killed many innocent women and children. He says that he would have regret what he had done if he had done it, and lives with himself of what he almost did. you have to think before you act but also act quickly. As a general he had to server in the war in order to gain experience and knowledge. In Luke 22: 24-27 Jesus explains that the man who serves is treated higher than the man who revives. General pace received a higher under standing and better experience from severing in the war.

  16. Sorry i am getting to you late brother. I enjoyed General Pace's presentation about leadership. He truly explained how one must lead by example. Pace explained how as a leader you must first look to one's self before leading others. One has to look to himself and find his own shortcomings, and fine tune them so that one can be one's best self and ultimately a better leader. I cannot remember if Pace said this or if it is just me thinking about fine-tuning skills, but i believe he said that it is always a good thing to know a little bit about everything. People turn to leader's for guidance, and if a leader knows a little bit about evreything, there should always be a bit of wisdom that the leader can share, helping whoever is in need. Something else that stuck with me was how to deal with a bad leader or someone in a position of power. He explained how in addressing them you don't want make it as though it is you vs. them or as someone is right and the other is wrong. You must address that kind of leader in way that you acknowledge that the situation at hand is the leaders the decision to decide on at the end of the day, but that if it was your decision to make you would do it this way. General Pace and leadership relate to Luke 22:24-27 in the sense that many great leaders come in all different walks of life. This makes me think of how God doesn't choose the qualified, he qualifies the chosen. I think that in the case of Luke 22:24-27 Jesus is trying to say that the best leader or the greatest man is he who is humble.
