How do the ideas of Jeremiah, Joshua, Martin Luther King, Jr. and Mr. Romano encourage a Hayesman?  Select and describe  one idea from the  "180" documentary that gives some insight about the issue of abortion. What is the "Seamless Garment theory?"  How do the seven photographs show a  progression of thought and action? Take your time to answer all aspects of these questions in a thoughtful way.

  1. The ideas of Jeremiah, Joshua, Martin Luther King, Jr. and Mr.Romano encourage a Hayesman by providing Hayes students with the knowledge and wisdom to make conscious and moral decision based on the Bible and personal experiences. Using their own intuition, these four individuals showed people the light and somehow made people do a complete 180 on their moral code. One idea from the documentary "180" is that the killing of unborn babies that have the potential to have a bad life is morally equivalent to killing Jewish people with down syndrome, which is what Adolf Hitler did. This consistency is called the "Seamless Garment Theory", which is a theory that suggests that if one is pro-life, they must also be against the death penalty, murder of adults, and any kind of killing whatsoever. These seven pictures above show progressive thought and action by depicting teenagers with a belief that they are committed to defending, going so far as to take a trip all the way to a different state in order to protest the unjust killing of unborn babies.

  2. The ideas of Jeremiah, Joshua, Martin Luther King Jr., and Mr. Romano encourage Hayesmen to grow and become men who make good decisions. One idea from the "180" documentary are the thought provoking questions that involve questioning ones moral could. One question was "Would you go back in time and kill Hitler before he was born?" The question makes one decide if they are doing the right thing or not. The "Seamless Garment theory" is a theory for those who are pro-life, or believe abortion is wrong. The seven photos above represent progression of thought and action because the people believed abortion was wrong and chose to go out and protest against it.

  3. The ideas of Joshua, Jeremiah, Martin Luther King, Jr. and Mr. Romano all share ways to encourage a Hayesman because all four people inspire ideas of life from different perspectives. Activists such as Martin Luther King, Jr. promoted a non-violent approach to the wrong doings in the world. Ideas from these four people may make a Hayesman think with a more open mind about the problems in life. In the documentary, "180," a problem addressed is abortion, which is a major issue worldwide. The idea that abortion is related to the Holocaust reveals that the choices made by Adolf Hitler, can be just as bad as the choice of abortion. The questions asked by Ray Comfort show that people change their mind when they only think in their own perspective. Abortion is referred to Hitler and the Ten Commandments because the sixth commandment is "Thou shall not kill." Abortion kills the fetus, which can be related to Hitler because Hitler also killed children by choice and belief. The "seamless garment theory" is a philosophy that issues such as abortion, social injustice, and militarism "demand a consistent application of moral principles that values the sacredness of human life." The seven pictures above show a progression of thought and action because the many kids and faculty from Cardinal Hayes that went to the march, had much thought on what they believe in and the value between essential and non-essential actions. The Hayes family took action to go march for their perspective on issues in the world.

  4. The ideas of Jeremiah, Joshua, Martin Luther King Jr., and Mr. Romano encourage a Hayesman by showing us that we can help those that are too young to speak for themselves. With the help of God, one too can also speak for the young ones who are looked down upon. Abortion is an issue in today's world not only because many people refuse to see the sin that they commit when they abort a child, but also because the abortion of a child is the killing of an innocent human who can't speak for itself, hasn't seen the outside world, and hasn't been given a chance to live. The seamless garment theory states that issues such as abortion, euthanasia, social and economic injustice, and militarism demand a consistent application of moral principals that value the sacredness of human life. The seven photographs portray progression of thought and action because the young men in the pictures are not discussing the issues with abortion, but instead marching and protesting the killing of innocents.

  5. All the historical figures mentioned each had a unique way of looking at life. Each of the 4 figures believed that life was sacred no matter the person's race, skin color or beliefs. These figures encourage a Hayesman to look at life the same exact way as they would.A Hayesman would be encouraged to respect life and view as the most sacred in this world. The idea that abortion is the same as burying a person alive really made me think that abortion is just as bad as watching someone suffer. The reporter asked if it was right to not bury someone alive. He then asked if it was not right than why would it be right to kill an innocent baby in the mother's womb. He made people rethink their answer to the first question mainly because they barely thought before answering. These seven pictures demonstrate people taking action in order to grant babies not even born yet to receive life. These kids have a strong belief that kids deserve life no matter what. The Seamless Garment Theory basically says that one should think about abortion and the sacredness of life.

  6. Ideas of Jeremiah, Joshua, Martin Luther King, Jr. are all related as they describe instances in which God gives people a voice or the ability to counteract injustices. In the book of Jeremiah, Jeremiah feels that he is too young to speak and have an opinion in his society. However, God counteracts this by giving Jeremiah a voice as He puts his hands on Jeremiah’s mouth, giving Jeremiah His words. In this instance, someone without a voice is given the opportunity by God to speak and express themselves. Jeremiah is then given the confidence to speak his mind and use his voice, demonstrating how God gives people an opportunity to express their ideas. Similarly, Joshua had been given the opportunity to counteract the tyranny around him. In the book of Joshua, Joshua must defeat Jericho, but needs help. Joshua is then helped by seven priests and conquers Jericho. Joshua being given help by God, as he is defended by priests, allows him to counteract the injustices happening to him. God gave Jeremiah help and allowed him to overcome oppression, demonstrating one of the many instances in which God helps people by giving them a voice or an opportunity to fight the unfairness around them. Martin Luther King, Jr. also reveals an instance in which God helps people counteract inequality around them. As Martin Luther King, Jr., was a priest and practiced non-violence, he used his church and his faith to reach many different people and contribute to the end of segregation. Not only were the Christian ideas of pacifism integrated into his message, but his Church and faith allowed him to appeal to Christians, black or otherwise, and spread his ideas against segregation. King’s faith allowed him the opportunity to reach all forms of people, and King demonstrates how God allows people to use their voice to create a change that eliminates injustice. In the Document 180, the speaker is against abortion and, like God, aims to give a voice to unborn children. The speaker aims to eliminate the unjust killing of these unborn children, and just how God intervenes into circumstances to eliminate injustice, the speaker uses his voice and impact to reach people and eliminate the practice of abortion. The opinions of Document 180 align with that of “The Seamless Garment Theory” as they both believe in the application of moral principles that “value the sacredness of human life.” (Egan) Seeing as “The Seamless Garment Theory” and Document 180 are created as a result of Christianity, they represent examples in which God’s impact gives people a voice to protect human lives and counteract actions of injustice. God continues to give people voices as in the seven photos, Christian ideas that seek to protect the right to life are spread to people of different schools, faiths, races, and sexes. God continues to impact people as he gives people a voice and inspires them to end injustices.

  7. Ideas from Jeremiah, Joshua, Martin Luther King, Jr. and Mr. Romano encourage a Hayesman to try harder to treat one another fairly. When Ray made the correlation between killing Jewish people and murdering children I thought about how closely they were connected and how if you think it's not okay to kill another human, you shouldn't kill a unborn baby. The Seamless Garment theory is a philosophy that deals with abortion and how we should be for the "protection of life." I think of the photos as a change of thought and how a person can have a completely different view when given the correct information

  8. The ideas of Jeremiah, Joshua, Martin Luther King Jr., and Mr. Romano help encourage a Hayesman to believe in themselves, and try to change the world, with their decisions. For example, Martin Luther King should us that we should give up on something we believe, just because of our nationality. In the book of Jeremiah, we are shown that Joshua feels that he is "to young", so God gives him a voice, thus showing how Joshua's ideas can help a Hayesman. One idea of Document 180 is that abortion is not morally good. It is related to the Holocaust, in that Adolf Hitler made choices to kill people and their beliefs. When a woman gets an abortion, the baby is killed and Adolf Hitler killed people, thus resulting in worldwide chaos. Because some people might think it is okay and others might not. The Seamless Garment theory opposes the idea of anything morally incorrect, and says it should be protected by the law. It shows that one should take their time when doing something because, a decision can result in a massive collsion.

  9. All four men, Jeremiah, Joshua, Martin Luther King Jr., and Mr. Romano all encourage a Hayesman because they spoke for those who could not speak and for those who voices were not being heard. They urged for society to follow a moral conduct and treat everyone equally and with respect. They were not satisfied with the status quo and pushed themselves and everyone around them to change that standard and set a new one. In the documentary “180”, they spoke about how abortion is the killing of babies and how people would not be able to kill innocent people, but they are fine with killing babies through abortion. People would tell the interviewer that they would not kill a Jew if their life was on the line, but those same people were fine with abortion without second thought. In relation to abortion, the Seamless Garment theory is that there must be a moral principle of valuing the sacredness of human life in order to prevent abortion. The seven photos show progress in thinking because it shows that people are beginning to change their views on abortion. People are now coming together to make a difference, as a lady said in the documentary. She said that people should come together to stand for a cause so that nobody is caught fighting alone, because people speaking in one voice has a greater difference.

  10. The ideas of Joshua, Jeremiah, Martin Luther King Jr., and Mr. Romano encourage a Hayesman with the mastery of making wise decisions based on the Bible. One idea from the documentary "180" is the issue of abortion. According to the documentary, the killing of these unborn children is similar to the killings of the Jewish people with Down-Syndrome. This is something that Adolf Hitler did. The "Seamless Garment Theory" is a theory that says that an individual is pro-life. In other words, an individual must be against the killings of any other individual, despite what they have done and their condition. The seven pictures above show a progression of thought and action because it conveys a message that people are engaging in coming together to prevent abortion and make a difference in the world.
